Straight answers to the questions Houston homeowners ask us most about hail damage, storm claims, and roof repair. If your question is not here, call us and we will walk you through it.
How do I spot hail damage on my roof?
From the ground, you usually cannot, and that is the danger. Hail bruises shingles and strips their protective granules without leaving an obvious hole. Look for indirect clues first: dents on gutters and vents, piles of granules at your downspouts, and dark soft spots on shingles you can reach safely. The only way to know for sure is a professional inspection. Our free roof inspection documents everything with photos.
How does the insurance documentation process work?
We inspect your roof, photograph and measure every point of damage, and compile a written report you hand to your insurer. You file the claim yourself; we simply provide the evidence that supports it. We are roofers, not public adjusters, so we do not file or negotiate on your behalf. See our insurance claim help page for the full flow.
What is the difference between RCV and ACV?
Actual Cash Value (ACV) pays the depreciated value of your roof, reduced for its age and wear. Replacement Cost Value (RCV) pays what it costs to replace the roof today, usually in two parts: an initial payment, then the withheld depreciation released after the work is finished and invoiced. Check your policy so you know which applies before you file.
Can you cover or discount my deductible?
No, and you should be wary of any roofer who says they can. Under Texas law, the homeowner always pays their own deductible, and it is illegal for a contractor to waive, rebate, or absorb it. We do honest documented work at a fair written price and leave your deductible where the law puts it: with you.
How long does a roof project take?
Most repairs take a day, and many full replacements on a typical Houston home finish in one to two days once materials and any claim path are set. Weather and the size of your roof are the biggest variables. Storm-season demand can affect scheduling, which is another reason to get inspected early.
What drives the cost of a roof?
Several factors: the size and pitch of your roof, the material you choose, the number of penetrations and valleys, how much decking needs repair after tear-off, and whether you upgrade to impact-resistant shingles. We put all of it in an exact written estimate so there are no surprises.
Are your inspections really free?
Yes. There is no charge and no obligation. If your roof is in good shape, we tell you so. If we find damage, you get photos and a written report to decide what to do next, whether that is a roof repair, a roof replacement, or nothing at all for now.
When should I get inspected after a storm?
As soon as it is safe. Insurers set deadlines for storm claims, and hidden hail damage worsens in Houston's heat and humidity. An early inspection gives you a documented baseline even if you decide not to repair right away.
